First Commercial Finance was founded by business, finance and real estate lawyers that are extremely active in the mid-atlantic region of the U.S.. We have placed hundreds of millions of dollars of commercial financing for our clients, from small residential investment loans to large, multi-million dollar institutional loans for those seeking initial project funding or who need to refinance existing debt, as well as business start-ups, buyouts, private placements, joint ventures, partnerships and mezz financing. We work with a vast network of local bankers, regional and national lenders and private/hard money lenders. We leverage our large network to provide both insitutional financing as well as large private capital reserves for non-bankable clients or for clients that need JV/equity partners. Borrowers often hire our attorneys to assist with many different aspects of business and finance, including the negotiation of complex loan workouts, term sheets, business or real estate contracts, among other matters.

Michael is the Managing Director for FCF. Michael has over 20 years of commercial and business banking experience. He has worked at or with larger retail banks including Bank of America, PNC and M&T, and has also worked at several smaller, local banks.
Michael has extensive background in credit underwriting, portfolio growth and management, and team development. He takes great pride in building long term financial relationships with clients and helping them navigate challenging financial environments.
Michael is married to his wife of 10 years, Liza. Together they have 4 children, 2 dogs and enjoy international travel and cruising.

Mr. Halpin is a principal in FCF. He owns his own law practice which focuses on banking and finance matters, as well as general business, contract and commercial real estate law. He is a co-founder of True Title, Inc., a Maryland-based title company which handles multi-state commercial and residential transactions.
Starting with well-established law firms in downtown Baltimore, Mr. Halpin has spent his career representing banks and borrowers in structuring and negotiating commercial loans, including mezzanine and hard-money debt. He also assists clients with forbearances, loan amendments, and short-pay agreements.
He currently resides in Columbia, Maryland.
